(February 7, 2011) WinterBike 2011 was a resounding success. We at CCN could not be happier for the way the evening turned out. At 7:00 sharp on Thursday night the doors were opened at the Five Sixty Club, Vancouver to a line up of people waiting to enter.

It was a full night of fun and entertainment with Dave Norona on the mic, great music from the Adam Woodall Band, a few short videos as well as slideshows from mountain bike photographers Jordan Manley and Harookz.

There was also the breaking news from Western Canada Mountain Biking Tourism Association as well as the new BC Bike Ride.  The BCBR is a seven day adventure put on by the organizers of the BC Bike Race, which involves guided rides through some of British Columbia’s best trails mixed with heli-drops and quality lodging. Lucky draw prize winner, Mitch Forbes from Cove Bikes was the man of the night winning a spot on the 2011 BC Bike Ride. With several other fantastic draw prizes, many people left with a nice reminder of the evening.

With hundreds of people from all aspects of the cycling community; shops, photographers, companies, pros, everyday riders and racers, the inaugural WinterBike met our goal by providing a location and format to catch up on the latest, meet old friends and some new ones.

This event would not have been possible without the help of several sponsors including the Title Sponsor Canawrap and supporting Event Sponsors GranFondo Canada, BC Bike Race, Vancouver Bike Show, Western Canada Mountain Biking Tourism Association (www.mountainbikingbc.com) and Trips For Kids.  This will definitely become an annual event in Vancouver and plans are progressing for similar events in Alberta and Washington in 2012.
