The Woods Belong to Us Documentary

After reading about Lynn Valley B&B’s emails between them and an anti-mountain bike activist, I remembered that there was also a documentary coming out soon called the Woods Belong to Us.

The documentary was done by someone who doesn’t mountain bike at all, but rather was interested in hearing the argument from the mountain bikers and the environmentalists point of view. Greg Winkler is a documentary film-maker in Portland, Oregon and he followed a well known trail builder around for seven months as well as meeting up with other trail builders in North Vancouver and different activists both for and against mountain biking. The anti-mountain bike activist that emailed Lynn Valley Bed and Breakfast makes an appearance in the documentary. You’ll find him at the end of the trailer.

The website for the documentary says that it was released July 31, 2010. There was an article about it in today’s North Shore Outlook so hopefully I’ll get a chance to see it. It looks interesting.
